How to reduce image file size

You can reduce file size by lowering JPG or WebP quality, or by reducing pixel dimensions. Both may affect appearance. PNG keeps transparency and this tool reduces its colour palette; fewer colours can make the file smaller and may change fine gradients.

  1. Select an image and choose JPG, WebP, or PNG output.
  2. Adjust quality or enter a best-effort target size. PNG uses the quality control to adjust palette colours.
  3. Review the output size and preview, then download the result.

Limits of an exact KB target

The exact target cannot be guaranteed for every image. Reaching a smaller limit may require reducing width or quality. Check the required format and dimensions in the application instructions.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get an exact 100 KB file?

The target size is a best-effort setting. The exact size depends on image content and dimensions, so check the output file size.

Does PNG compression change image quality?

PNG palette compression can change fine gradients; transparency is preserved. Review the preview before download.

Does WebP work on every website?

Not every form accepts WebP. If a form asks for JPG or PNG, choose that output format.
